2019: Year In Review – RT Celebrates Its One Year Anniversary

We celebrated our one year anniversary on April 15th. It was a day for team members of Rising Tides to reflect on the progress that had been made, the business owners we had met with, the entrepreneurs who shared their ideas and dreams with us, the events we hosted, and the mission and goals of the organization.

We spent the majority of 2019 getting established while simultaneously working on our team’s collective entrepreneurial projects, and networking with other small businesses, aspiring business owners, and entrepreneurs of all types. Along the way, we further clarified our mission as an organization and continued to develop methods to promote our values through all we do.

During 2019, some of the companies we met with were: Seattle Meowtropolitan (Seattle’s first cat cafe), Blue Highway Games (expansive, yet cozy board game store in Queen Anne), Cascadia Global Security (local, but far-reaching private security company), and Quest Factor (operators, designers, and builders of ingeniously crafted escape rooms). We had a great time getting to learn from the owners/operators of these companies, and look forward to continuing to stay connected with them and many others going forward!

Clean Water Initiative

During our first year we learned about the values of our members, the business owners we met with, and the PNW region in general. During our learning process we noticed something rather significant, we are all passionate about environmental remediation
and sustainable business practices. This inspired us to launch our Clean Water Initiative.
Through this initiative we aim to:

  • Provide educational resource to people regarding the health of their local watershed and the quality of their drinking water.
  • Improve the quality of local bodies of water.
  • Improve the quality of drinking water supplies.

COVID-19 Adaptations

At Rising Tides we are currently adjusting our business practices to address the threat posed by COVID-19. We are looking forward to returning to meeting in-person with business owners and entrepreneurs soon. In the meantime, we are revising our procedures for holding in-person meetings, and building in extra precautions to safeguard the health of our team members and those we meet with. Until we resume with in-person meetings, we will continue holding meetings through videoconferencing apps.
